Hi Im Melissa and have been doing hair for 15 years. My love for doing hair started at a young age styling my friend’s and family’s hair. I’m originally from Keokuk and moved to Iowa City to attend La James International College to pursue my cosmetology degree. Once I graduated, I worked for corporate salons for 10 years in Iowa city and the last 5 years in Des Moines.

In May of 2022 I took a leap and became my own boss here at Solo Tu. I’m in the salon Monday- Friday doing cuts for the whole family, waxing, and specializing in color, and bridal services. I love getting to know all my clients on a personal level and want everyone who sits in my chair to feel like family!

I’m always accepting new clients, and look forward to making you feel like your best self!
